MESSAGE FROM THE KIMBLE
Thank you to everybody who attended or supported the point-to-point at Kimble on Easter Saturday.
The weather was against us in the weeks preceding Easter Saturday and it was touch and go right up until 8am on raceday morning, however the committee had worked tirelessly to ensure that they were able to cope with emergencies which gave the stewards and medical teams the confidence to allow us to race.
The course itself was in fantastic condition with good fields in most of the seven races and some great racing. The connections of the horses that ran were all very grateful to the whole team for managing to put the meeting on when many others were cancelled due to the wet conditions, and in return we are thankful to all those that ran their horses.
A lot of work has gone into improving the racecourse itself over the past few years and this has paid dividends. Our grateful thanks must go to all those who have been involved in this process, but in particular the landowners who also allowed us to continue with the race meeting despite the mess that would inevitably remain.
Sincere thanks goes to absolutely everybody that helped in the lead up to the day and throughout raceday. There is an untold amount of work that goes into putting on this important annual event with the input of everyone vital to ensuring the success of the day, although there are some long-standing members of this committee in particular who devote an endless amount of time to this race meeting.
From sponsors to fence judges, cake bakers to tractor drivers, horse-catchers to those erecting the fencing, bar attendants to the weighing-room team, car parking assistants to race card sellers, stewards to the medical and veterinary teams, we are grateful to all those who contributed in whatever way, and also of course those who came along on the day to support our efforts.
We were fortunate to be able to call upon supportive farmers and local contractors to provide the necessary machinery capable of towing out horse boxes that were axle-deep in mud. Without their help racing could not have taken place and we are incredibly lucky to have this infrastructure.
We hope the run-up to Easter Saturday 2019 won’t cause the committee quite as many headaches but look forward to seeing you at our other meetings at Kingston Blount.
